Catagories not showing in Advanced Search

I just had a look at something I took for granted, and it took a big bite out of me. First, a little background info may help to explain my confusion over this problem. I have 2 sites up, one a test site and the other live. On the test site, the categories (in the Advanced Search drop down menu) update as new ones are added but nothing happens on the live site. I have identical advanced_search and advanced_search_results phps installed and have no idea what the problem may be. I use a drop down category menu as well as the Mymenu and all of the categories show in all four places but nada, nothing, zilch in the Advanced Search dropdown on the live site. Any assist in this would be greatly appreciated! :sweating:

are you certain you're editing the correct database on the live site? I mean when you add categories. Do those new categories appear everywhere else? Another thing you could check is to clear the cache or disable it from the osc admin and try again.

Pretty sure, since there are only 2 databases that I see when I look in MyAdmin. Kind of got a customer a little upset the last time I disabled cache for testing. He had a full shopping cart saved for later additions and it went puff. If you could take a second to look at http://www.djscollectables.com/oscommerce-...nced_search.php you will see what I am talking about. Both the drop down category menu and the MyMenu are populated but the one in advanced search shows only one category. It does bring up the correct products when used though, so I think it has to be on the right db.

I stumbled across the problem but not the cause. Seems that the category status for all but one was turned off (set to '0'). I turned all 600 or so on in phpMyAdmin and they are now showing in the advanced search drop down menu. If anyone might have an idea as to why this is not being set to '1', please let me know, as I really do not want to manually have to do this after each new category is added. Also, a quick question comes to mind. Why is that ddmenu the only thing affected? Seems like the status indicator should do something else besides that.
