benlee94 Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 I have bought a domain and would like to know what the most appropriate type of hosting is for oscommerce. I have tried installing OScommerce on another site I run, using a fasthots, windows based server and it is frought with problems. What is the best/easiest hosting setup to use for running Oscommerce Ben
♥Vger Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 An Apache web server using either a Unix or linux operating system. Make sure that the host provides an smtp (outgoing) mail service and a shared ssl cert that works and is trusted. It is not allowed to recommend specific hosts on this forum. Vger

Vger Agreed, Apache on *NIX. I recommend that you get your own SLL cert, they are dirt cheap at $24 per year - though this would also require you to have an IP based hosting and not name based, which may or may not cost additional money. Also you'll need to make sure that you have PHP and MySQL provided as well. My Contributions Henry Smith
