steelwidow Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Okay... I'm using 2checkout on my store. I don't have an ssl certificate. When someone goes to checkout and they choose 2checkout, of course they have to enter their cc info. The problem is, since I don't have an ssl certificate, I don't want them to enter that info on the store since 2checkout asks for that info anyway once they get to that part of the cart... is there a way to remove that without messing up the cart? Screenshot attached. It's sort of a pain in the butt for them to have to enter it once on my store and then once at 2checkout... repetative I should say... any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
♥Vger Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 any suggestions? Yes. I would never do business with any online store that does not protect my data by having an ssl certificate (either shared or full). Most hosting companies provide access to a shared ssl cert as part of your hosting package - but a full ssl cert is obviously better and provides greater reassurance to your customers. At the moment when customers create an account, edit their account etc. that data is all being sent over an unecrypted connection and open to interception by any half-competent hacker. Vger
steelwidow Posted March 9, 2006 Author Posted March 9, 2006 Ok and while I understand what you're saying, you apparently missed the part where I don't want to take credit card information on my store.... that's why I want to remove it since they are entering it at 2checkout which IS secure. The only thing then that I'm taking on my site is their name, email, address.... if you're saying that information should be secure as well, then 80% of sites out there should also be secure as that information is taken when you sign up for any account be it message board, newsletter, or whatever. Without getting into the debate of security... is there a way that I do not have to take CC information on my site? Is there a way to edit that out of the 2checkout mod? Thanks in advance.
♥Vger Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 I never use 2checkout so can't help you on that one. I can say that the default osCommerce 2checkout module is out of date and doesn't work since 2 checkout changed their system. Vger
steelwidow Posted March 9, 2006 Author Posted March 9, 2006 hmmmmmmmmm.... ok the one I have is working.
