JavaReb Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Im building a website for someone. We have credit card processing and thats working, now he wants to accept checks also. I recommended a service that handles this, such as authorize.net or another...but he wants to take checks and just process them offline. What is the best way to do this ? I thought of just sending the info via email, but the security issues im not comfortable with. comments anyone ?
GraphicsGuy Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 First let me say that I think it is a bad idea. They will experience a high rate of fraudulent checks that bounce or chargeback. If they insist you add that functionality, I would suggest that you get them to sign a liability waiver with a clause that would indemnify you in case they get into any legal battles resulting from acceptance of fraudulent checks. All that said, here is a contribution for doing that: Electronic Check Payment Module Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.
