Not receiving order emails w/ regularity

I am hoping someone can help.

 

I am apparently not receiving all the order confirmations I should be. I have some customers who paid via paypal and I get that notice (from paypal) but not the order notice. I have one customer whose order isnt even showing up. Luckily I added a notification alert when a new customer registers so I can manually check on my orders.

 

I have tested the cart out again by making both paypal payments and payments via check and I am receiving both the paypal notification and the order notification.

 

Is there any setting I should check? Is there a way to put a diagnostic tool in place to find out what is going on?

 

Any help is appreciated.

If you are using the default Pay Pal Module that comes with

osCommerce and are wondering why the orders don't get added

to the database, the stock updated, and that no order

confirmation e-mails get sent out - this is the reason.

 

You are reliant upon the customer hitting the 'Continue'

button on the Pay Pal website at the end of their purchase,

which then returns them to your website, updates the database,

updates the stock quantity, empties their shopping cart,

and sends the order confirmation e-mails out.

 

There are two solutions:

 

1. Use the official osCommerce Pay Pal IPN. This is the

only IPN module which begins with 'osCommerce'. It is

also the only IPN module with a completely new and

free-standing set of files - meaning that you don't

have to edit any other files in order to install it.

 

2. Go to your Pay Pal account, go to Profile, and

sign up for their Auto-Return service - which returns the

customer to your website automatically after a delay of a

few seconds. The return url you must provide is something

like this (adjust as necessary for your website):

 

http://www.yourdomain.com/checkout_process.php

OK...so I have a follow up question.

 

I installed the IPN module you spoke of and tested it out (live server) with my account and my wifes. Everything seemed to go through fine. I received Paypal notifications and I can see both transactions in each of our respective paypal accounts.

 

But then I received a "PayPal IPN Invalid Process" with a bunch of fields and values. When I login to my store admin panel and look at the order I see the IPN failed. ow do I go about fixing this?

 

Any help is VERY much appreciated.

I wanted to know if you have resovled the not receiving order emails. I am having this issue also. I do not use Pay Pal, but it appears you had the same issue of not receiving order emails... based on your initial post.

 

In my case, I have in the past received order emails on test orders. Also I emails to my customer appear to be working without issue. It just appears to be an issue with the order emails sent to me.
