Bob Williams Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 I have a client who uses OSCommerce to sell signs. They have several hundred different signs, and are changing on a regular basis. All signs, however, offer a choice from the same selection of text and background colors (about 15 each). Currently, when a product is added, every option value (color) of each option must individually be added to the product. I've always found this cumbersome--why associate option values with options at all if they aren't treated as a group--but in this case, it creates a particularly onerous chore out of what should be a simple task of adding a product. So my question is, is there any way to create a product, then say, "Offer the text color and background color options," and have all of the actual option values automatically get assigned as possible options so that they show up in the menus on the product page--without having to manually add each of the ~15 color option values for each of the two options? Thanks!
Guest Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Bob, There are some contributions that treat attributes as groups. You can group a set of attributes and then apply the group to the product. Another option is Easy Populate with attributes. You just need to keep 1 product in the file. When you add a new product, since they're almost all the same, just add the new product to the file, copy down the old product's attribute values, modify as needed, and then use EP to upload. ed
