Hey everyone, glad to have found this site... and I have done some searching before posting this question... sorry if I am rehashing a few things but some of the answers I found did not help me.

We are looking for a ecommerce solutions that allows for the following...

Subscription based access to a site.

Royalty reporting based on vendor accounts and product sales price (coupons applied ect.), shown by date and searchable.

Are these two things possible with this store..? If they require addons, which ones, do you know..?

Thank you sincerly for your help on this... if you are a developer and these things are not currently available... but you can code it. Let me know that as well... as we are looking for a solution.

Thanks again!!

Subscription based access is not the hard part. Multiple vendors and royalties can be complex, but as they say with most technology - most everything is possible.

Do you have oscommerce installed yet?

I'm working on part one of a similar project. I'm looking for a reoccuring subscription service that would limit access to parts of my site to registered users only.

I imagine that I would have to store credit card information to periodically renew a subscription after 1 month or 1 year, after an subscription expires.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE EASY PART???

thanks

NATHAN

Membership systems are not very difficult, they should be a second course after building an address book.

Are you thinking of a simple membership system or a more advanced multi group model? Does your site sell just a membership? What formats of content are contained in the members area? How is the content posted and managed? How much security does your system require? All of these questions may affect the approach I might attempt.

I have run into trouble with some protection schemes not getting along with some software used to post content. And some methods of protecting content are more complicated by the file types and require wrappers to enclose the file.

A contribution called download controller (I think) provides an idea on how to use attributes to attach products to system functions. I have not tried the members only contribution, but that may be useful too.

Subscriptions can make me nervous if the end users credit card information is kept on the local site. That is a liability most small businesses cannot afford to risk. Some payment fulfillment companies offer subscription options, that is easier than building your own.
