I believe you will need MyPHPAdmin, Apache and SQL to run it locally. However, unless you set it up to do so, the site will only be local, not available on the web.

I downloaded that apache combo thing, now I need info on how to Install if from there, and using my computer for a server, what does that mean, and what advantages or disadvantages does it have compared to having it live on my web site?

I'm kinda new at this and I have the oscommerce uploaded on my site, but I can't get It to work!

Any help would be great!

Check this thread

osCommerce in XP

It should answer some of your questions. Other information is available. Search the forums on Local, Server, oscommerce and you should find lots.

I run my hosted, so this is about all the information I have at this point.

You won't get OSC to work with Earthlink. Those guys are a joke - last time I looked at them they didn't offer any kind of database for their hosting accounts, and the woman I spoke to in Tech Support had never even heard of MySQL........

www.ipowerweb.com are just about the best (and cheapest) I've found for doing work with OSC.

cheers
