Terrible installation on server problem

Hello,

After two weeks of locally working on my site via XAMPP, I want to try it on the server of my hoster. I used this hoster for many years know with FrontPage html sites, but never used PHP and MySQL before.

First I want to install the demo site on the server, and if this is working correct, I will put my own work on it. The problem starts already with installing the demo site. My hoster created the database on the MySQL server and provided me with the necessary username, password and database name server. I copied all the files that are in the catalog directory of the osCommerce installation package to the root of my site with SW_FTP in auto mode, and run the installation program by going to my site with IE. I fill in all the information, and it all goes well, even when it ask for the database information. After filling in this information it gives the response:? A test connection made to the database was successful!?

So I think that the program has all the information it needs and can reach the database too. After this, I hit the next button, and the program should start installing all the necessary files. Unfortunately I get the message:

?SQL file does not exist: ?/home/sites/site1/install/oscommerce.sql"

I can choose out of cancel or retry.

What is this?!?

At the server, I can find the file: ?root/install/osCommerce.sql?

But ?root/install/osCommerce.sql? is not the same as ?/home/sites/site1/install/oscommerce.sql? (I think) so he is right about that J

It is not possible to change the path of ?/home/sites/site1/install/oscommerce.sql? to ?root/install/osCommerce.sql? (I think).

So, last night was a bit disappointing, and I really have no clou or what so ever.

I really need some good advice

Regards,

Peter
