mscnln Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 I would like to set up an item (that happens to be a gift card, though it's a physical gift card, not a credit on the oscommerce store) which the visitor can set the price of. If this functionality is unavailable, what would be some clean ways to set this up? I know this could also be implemented by creating a $1 item and having the visitor change the quantity, though that seems like an ugly way do do it. Thanks
stevel Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 There is a popular Credit Class and Gift Voucher contribution which, though you may not figure it out from the name, provides both coupon codes and gift certificates that are redeemed with codes. The annoying part of it, though, is that it doesn't work the way you'd expect, where the customer buys an individual certificate of a specified amount. Instead, the customer buys credits which she can then spend to send gift certificate codes in chosen amounts, up to the available credit. So it turns what should be a simple purchase into a multi-step process. It should be possible to modify this to work in a more traditional manner. I've thought about it but not had the time to do it.
