themack21 Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 How do I change these? Where do I put the info? Here is what I have been tild to do. I am not even sure where to find all these file too change...... After installing osCommerce follow these steps for post-installation: 1. Rename the catalog/install folder or delete it. 2. Reset the permissions on catalog/includes/configure.php to 644 (if you are still getting the warning message at the top of the page after setting this configure.php files to 644 then set the catalog/includes/configure.php file to 444 which is read only - this happens on some servers that have been updated for security reasons). 3. Set the permissions on catalog/images directory to 777 4. Set the permissions on admin/images/graphs directory to 777 5. Create the directory admin/backups and set the permissions to 777 (this is the folder to store the database backup of your store in the "Tools" section of the store admin). The store admin directory on your server needs to be password protected using .htaccess. Most of the time the server you are hosting your store on has the ability to password protect directories through the server administration area so check with your host. Please help. I spent over 60 hour making my cart custom and with the new upgrade it jacked it all up. I tried to restore it from a back up and got an error. Thank you for even reading this. Frank
JazzMan_Jay Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Hi Themack21, Use your favorite FTP programm or download an opensource one like Filezilla. Connect to your domain through FTP and select one of the mentioned file, right click on it and set permission as requested. With the FTP you can also delete the install folder. For .htaccess protection, you can search in your favorite search engine to have more info and become an expert on it. Hope I 've helped a bit.
stevel Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Do not use 777 as permission on folders. 755 should be sufficient. Depending on how your host is set up, 710 would be better. The protection on the configure.php files should be 400. You can use my Protection of Configuration contrib (link below) to make this easy.
