Cookie Usage Error

I have Force Cookie Use set to true.

When a visitor has his/her browser's privacy setting to Block All Cookies, the cookie usage explanation page appears if he/she attempts to add something to the cart. When a visitor has the browser's privacy setting set to Medium High or lower, he/she can shop with items being properly tracked. Both of these results are as they are supposed to be.

However, I recently discovered that there is a problem if the visitor's browser privacy setting is set to High. If the browser is set to High, they are unable to place items in the cart AND they are not redirected to the cookie usage page.

I have visited other oscommerce sites that force cookies and the visitor is redirected to the cookie usage page if the brower privacy is set to High.

How can I get visitors with their browser privacy setting on High redirected to the cookie usage page. Right now, for visitors with High privacy settings, the site does not appear to work. They can't add anything to their cart, nor are they provided with an explanation as to why not.

Thanks.

not sure but I read somewhere that especially in IE the cookie can still be read if it exists but no longer updated if the browser settings do not allow it. In FF you cannot do either.

That might explain it. Try deleting the cookie before increasing the security level.

Thanks for the tip! I tried as you said. I deleted cookies and then returned to my site with privacy set to High. This time I was redirected to the Cookie Usage page!

I guess that I was not previously redirected to the Cookie Usage page when privacy was set to High was because I previously visited the site and accepted a cookie. (However, it seems weird that the visitor would not ALWAYS be redirected to the Cookie Usage page if privacy was set to High.)

Thanks to your explanation, I feel better knowing that a visitor visiting the site for the first time with privacy set to High that he/she WILL be redirected to the Cookie Usage page when attempting to add an item to the cart. I was concerned that all visitors with a High privacy setting were unable to add items to their carts AND they were not redirected to the Cookie Usage page to explain why.
