Server Requirement Error: register_globals is disabled in your PHP configuration

Well, I am trying to set up an online store. I installed this using Fanastico on Cpanel. It is Apache version 1.3.34 (Unix) with PHP version 4.4.1.

I installed and I go to the directory and it says

Server Requirement Error: register_globals is disabled in your PHP configuration. This can be enabled in your php.ini configuration file or in the .htaccess file in your catalog directory.

So I searched these forums and found a solution that a admin had suggested which was to put php_flag register_globals on in .htaccess in the root of my web hosting..

I do not have access to PHP.ini because I am an online web hosting.

I edit the htacess file and I upload it, now I am getting this

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I logged into CPanel and went to the error logs and it said

[sun Mar 5 02:32:20 2006] [alert] [client *.*.*.*] /home/----/public_html/.htaccess: Invalid command 'php_flag', perhaps mis-spelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration

What can I do to get this working??

I had this same problem the other day when I started. If this is a fresh install then install this contribution. It doesnt require any editing, just uploaded some files and it seemed to work for me and I was having the same errors as you.

-Hope this helps

Search the forum and contributions before posting. If that doesn't work, keep looking, then post. The forum is for seeking help and advice NOT for someone to do your work for you. Try to do something on your on, if you are going to run a shop then learn how it works.
