rommany Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Hi Over the past year i have added a lot of contributions to my site, i have just check it with validator.w3 and its showing a lot of errors and as i have added so many contributions and played around with them, i really do not know where to start to correct them. Home page errors Home page in w3 The below one is worse as it will not even show me the errors as it can not read the page. Other pages on site As you can see i have a few <td> and <tr> that are not open or closed correctly. Any advice would be great. Regards
JazzMan_Jay Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Hi Romamany, well let's say it so. As I was 7 my favorite occupation was reparing working clocks and after the job was done I had always a few pieces left. I think you've done mostly the same modding your shop. Regarding at the results of the W3C validator, I can't see really where is the hard part. Look carefully at the results, sometimes you are missing quotes, closing or opening tab that were not before open or close. I would go like this: 1- let the validator Browse your site 2- look at where the error are located (in the source code) 3- Try to identify wich contrib is affected 4- Go to the contrib modules and fix the problems. And remenber, the W3C is not God, as long as you can browse your site in IE and Firefox I guess you can reach over 95% of the people out there. So take your time and enjoy reparing working clocks. Ciao
Guest Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 You should get a green result from w3c before comparing with browsers. And it's not that simple btw. especially with templates they're full of html errors. And fix your osc admin end too and in general pages with forms. They can cause a nightmare and mess your database.
