Admin Protection

I have been trying to create a secure admin and I cant seem to find out how. Someone please help!!

This has been in many times in the forums. You could have found the answer by searching the forums.

Anyway, admin is secured via your server by password protecting the directory or by using htaccess.

If you are unsure how to do this you need to contact your server directly.

Backup before making changes. Backup before making changes! Backup before making changes!!

You did do a backup? eh?

Have you contacted your server about password protecting directories?

I found this about .htaccess on the forums:

Two ways to do it.

1)First one is the simplest is to go to control panel and link that has password protedt directory. This will generate an .htacess filr and add a line that has user name and encrypted password to the passwd file.

2)The other way is to manual upload an htacess file and modify the passwd file

I have added my htaccess and my htpasswd and it asks me for a password and I enter the username and password that i made and it just pulls up the username and password box again and continues to do so as if I am not typing in the write combination

When you talk to your service provider just ask them how to password protect a page on your website, versus explain the entire OsCommerce issue. I had problems with my service provider as well as they generally know nothing about OsCommerce. When you know if they have a wizard or utility to password protect pages then you can choose the admin page with one of these utilities.

Cheers
