New installation

twice.redeemed

Recommended Posts

Hi - I just downloaded the package and am going to install it tonight. I don't know any php, although I know standard sql (not MySql), and I am proficient in scripting like ASP. Do you think not knowing php will be a major drawback??

It will be installed on my Windows server at my ISP, is that OK?

Any other tips or tricks before I install it?

Thanks for the help

You should not install OSC on a Windows box. The store works best on a Linux/Unix server - my experiences of installing OSC on Windows boxes have always been bad ones - I remember email being a particular headache.

Thanks, is there much scripting involved to get it running. Do I need to know php pretty good?

To install and get working you need virtually no knowledge of PHP at all as most ISP provide an installer application that sets up and configures the store for you.

The level of PHP knowledge you'll need will depend on the level of reskin you'll then want to perform. A serious reskin will require a good to advanced knowledge of PHP and MySQL.
