ozcsys Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 an online order is placed with a retailer. Retailer sends out said order...twice. What laws are applicable here? Thanks in advance for any help!! Are you getting some kind of delivery confirmation when you send out the orders? Are you insuring them? Basically if someone orders from you and then says they did not receive it then it is up to you to prove that they did. Things that will help; Make sure that you get a signiture confirmation on the delivery, only deliver to the billing address, having the cvv module installed for cc orders is a good idea. Do not be afraid to check out your customer before sending out their order if something does not seem right. It is better to find out before you send out than after. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
GraphicsGuy Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 an online order is placed with a retailer. Retailer sends out said order...twice. What laws are applicable here? Thanks in advance for any help!! Or do you mean that you accidentally shipped the order twice and are wondering what recourse you might have? If that is the case, depending on the jursidiction, you may be dependent on the customer's honesty and character to get it back. Even where there might be laws to assist if the customer lacks those qualities, the burden of proof that they received them both is on you. You would have to be able to produce a signature proof of delivery that has their signature on it. Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.
Guest Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 if you're referring to GraphicsGuy's scenario and you sell low(er)-ticket items.. i have found that simply telling them "keep it" - you make your money's worth, 9 x out of 10.. they always come back. :)

This is what I was asking. So, if there is no signature by the customer that bought it, there is no recourse? I did go through some mail order laws and it seems that is the case. I'm just trying to figure everything out. >_<
