scarecrow-rye Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 oscommerce is a new tool to me, one im eager to install, explore and use. ive taken a brief look through some of the sites featured within the Showcase section of this site - and while clearly functional, all of the sites seem to follow the same 'out of the box' templating. does anybody know of any websites truely pushing the use of oscommerce to its limits in terms of professional design and customer experience?
boostadaroosta Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 There are quite a few sites that offer very professional looking templates that ride over a basic osCommerce install. This is probably as close to "pushing the envelope" that I have found. http://www.algozone.com/ http://www.templatemonster.com/oscommerce-templates.php http://www.hypertemplates.com/category/osc...ates/page1.html --Cheers!

potikyan Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Our site uses a template from templatemonster. We are very happy with the design and it looks nothing like the generic osCommerce template. http://www.westwoodprinters.com
AlanR Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 you actually call a template "pushing the envelope"? It's too bad we can't rate comments here. Local: Mac OS X 10.5.8 - Apache 2.2/php 5.3.0/MySQL 5.4.10 • Web Servers: Linux Tools: BBEdit, Coda, Versions (Subversion), Sequel Pro (db management)
boostadaroosta Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 It's too bad we can't rate comments here. Yeah. Maybe you could get 10,000 points for being a wiseass, and 10,000 more for not offering any helpful comments.
♥Vger Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 How many points do you get for being touchy and being unable to take a joke? "pushing the envelope" :D Vger
♥Vger Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 On a positive note. A lot of the templates on offer use the Simple Template System. However this is now very dated. I have recently seen a lot of templated sites where the whole template is included in the header.php file. There are some limitations, and some of them have atrocious coding in them - but the idea is very sound indeed. Vger
