Greetings,

I recently began developing my retail website using OSCommerce. Up until now, I have done minimal customization to the standard OSc database, as my focus had been to add my products to the catalog ASAP. I would like to hear constructive feedback as to what I can do to improve my catalog. I am fairly technical, and can follow directions once I know where to start.

Top on my priority list at this time is to improve my SEO for Google, etc.. I just read a few posts about the "Ultimate SEO" Contribution and wonder if that would be an appropriate fit. I already use Froogle to advertise my products, which brings me a certain amount of sales based upon my pricing position.

I look forward to your feedback.

thanks in advance.

All just my opinion:

1-I would eliminate the entry pages and make your catalog open at that above URL. All of the info pages you have on that page can easily be made within an OSC site.

2-Either make your own or download some more color coordinated buttons, the stock ones do not match your site theme and the transparency around them is not working with your yellowish backgrounds resulting in white areas surrounding each button.

3-Get rid of the language box, it only has one language in it so it is not needed.

4-Remove the requests counter in the footer.

5-You need some page titles that reflect the item you are selling. Now all of your pages are titled OSCommerce.

6-Ditch the stock clip art.

7-When clicking "top" in your breadcrumb trail the page which loads up says the following:

"Welcome to vDeck

This is the default page for a vDeck hosting server. If you were expecting to see your website, come back tomorrow. If you still see this message then, send an email to support."

8-Your privacy notice and conditions of use needs to be significantly expanded.

9-In you product descriptions I find the all caplital letters hard to read.

10-I would place some logos on the front page of the payment methods you accept.

11-You should have a SSL logo on the front page as well.

That's about it, hope this helps. I only intended it as friendly observations.

I spent 8 years in the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment and I love it!!

The site looks great too. Very easy to navigate. Nice pictures, loads quickly.

Although I dont much care for the intro page.

Hooah!

I'm a victim of circumstance

I like the look. If you can, you might consider optimizing it for 800x600 viewing.

I also saw a couple of items that I might just have to pick up ... I love that stuff.
