milauskas
I just had an inquiry from a potential client who wants to update their ecommerce site. I'm thinking that osC will suit just about all their needs. One of their requests is that the site have an area where their distributors can download product images and sellsheets. I envision this would be a password protected area. Can this be accomplished with osC? It would mean regular users would come to the site and could buy products, but certain authorized visitors would have access to a restricted section. If I can't "split" osC into two sections like this, is it possible to insert a link, say, on the main catalog page which would take to user to another non-osC portion of the site (for example, if I have to build a separate area from scratch for these image downloads)? As always, I am so grateful for the insight and help I always received from these forums. Thanks in advance.
Guest
you should be able to do that via the customer's account or through a download like product. Anyways if you decide to go with pages outside osc you can do that too using something like this to preserve sessions: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,3257
milauskas
Thanks. I'm still learning about what the contributions can add to osC. I'll check that out and see if I can use it. It's all hypothetical at this point, but I'd like to know what I'm talking about if the opportunity arises. Thanks again!
