avail1now Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 cheers all, what is the "current" collective opinion on suitability of osCommerce for a realestate property listing site? Are there more suitable cart/catalog products? Could you share links to osComm or non osComm based sites to demonstrate? I came across the following relevant discussions: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=78299 says open realty is better http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=69674 http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=66531 http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=45891 cheers, Bridgette & Deano my contributions: tableless CSS template login form for STSresources: effective searching knowledge base how to: sandbox with Paypal IPN

Guest Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I looked at both osCommerce and Open Realty a while ago for a property site. I eventually went with Open Realty as the core, since I figured the amount of changes I'd have to make to osC wasn't worth it. the advantage with osC of course, is that you have a built in feature that allows visitors to save properties for viewing later (the shopping cart!) ozcsys Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I second Open Realty as it works very well for site where you will not actually have customers making purchases online. I have used it for a few diferent projects from real estate to horses and have been happy with how it worked out. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
