rich89
I contacted GoDaddy (my client's host) inquiring about setting up an SSL and let them know that I was using OS Commerce. I'm using Linux, my htaccess files seem to work, and I have taken all the post-installation steps suggested for increased security. Their response puzzled me, and--as I am not, in particular, a security guru--I just wanted to find out whether there is any merit to it, or whether they just discourage OS Commerce to encourage sales of their own pay by the month shopping carts: Dear Me, Thank you for contacting customer support. We actively discourage the use of OS Commerce using our hosting services, due to security issues with the software. We also do not allow third party SSL certificates to be installed on our hosting services. Thank you, xxxx If there are in fact security issues, I'd love to know what they are, and how to go about minimizing them. If not, I'll just keep on keepin' on. Thanks for any input on this.
