E-mail doesn't work 100%

Ok, so I moved a shop from my server to a paying server.

Everything seemed to work fine. Customers put in orders but complained cause they didn't get any status e-mails.

I went to settings and changed from sendmail to smtp. I made a fake order and it worked, I got the e-mail.

Problem is that the owner won't get the orders e-mailed to them and the customer don't get e-mails when status is updated to processing or delivered.

Would be better if it didn't work at all, but now at least that first e'mail goes out :(

Any suggestions?

if u r saying that everyone gets an email when they place the orders but when ugo and change the status in the admin section, it doesnt send emails that it means that your email.php class file is corrupted.

bring a new one back from osc stock installation (download a fresh copy of osc ms2) then copy admin/inlcudes/classes/email.php

backup ur current one.. post with results please

Last 4 orders placed didn't have any payment options asigned, even though I didn't change anything.

When I go to payment options it tells me "Modulens mapp: /shop/catalog/includes/modules/payment/" but there aren't any options and when I click "Install" nothing happens. They just disappeared.

Ok, everything seems to be screwed up so I temp removed the index.php so they can't reach the shop.

Luckily I found the orders in the database, but they doesn't show up in the admin or per mail.

Did the general.php writeover some of the other php-files?

Same here, on a friend's site which has been up and operating for nearly three years! As of 2/22/06, no e-mail function. I contacted the host server tech support. They started looking into things, generated a test customer and a test e-mail account. Said they found some errors in the message being sent to the 'send extra orders to' address and made some corrections. All e-mail functions now working except that the customer is receiving two new order mails. Before this only one e-mail went to the customer. Tech support said the script is generating both e-mails to the customer and suggested asking at the forums here about that part.

Have you brought this up with the osCommerce support community? I do see where I did receive two e-mail messages for each order. However, it looks like the script sent both of those messages to the address directly. This would really seem to indicate that the script is just doing what it is told to do. Perhaps there is a configuration option that needs to be switched or an option that needs to be changed. I am really not sure where that option might be or what heading it might be under, this is where the osCommerce support community would have a much better understanding of the issue. They might also be able to give some clue as to where I should look on the server concerning a change. From what I can tell, it just really looks like the script is doing what it is being told to do.

Any suggestions on that would be appreciated. Meanwhile, I have written to the tech for an explanation of what errors and corrections he/she had found so I can share them with you all. When/If I hear back I will post the answer here.

For anyone affected by this issue -- e-mail functions suddenly stop working -- here is the response, written for the OSC support community, from my host's tech support:

Hello,

There was a lock file on the system that appeared to be preventing some e-mail from being sent out. If the other users who are experiencing this problem are on a CPanel server, they may need to contact their host and have them check to see if a file exists at:

/etc/eximmailtrap

If it does, remove this file and reset the eximmailtrap parameter in the /var/cpanel/cpanel.config and insure that this parameter is set to 0. This is not a task that end users will be able to perform, only the system administrator would be able to make this change.

I am not really sure what causes the eximmailtrap lock file to be present. I do know we did have some issues with an account on this server sending out a lot of e-mail. I am just guessing, but I assume that this trap file is somehow triggered after large volumes of e-mail are sent out. This account has since been moved off of this server, so I do not believe it would be an issue now.
