Unless you opt for Paypal WPP payment method where you want to collect all the credit card details at your site. There is no need to go for SSL. SSL though will make your client feel more comfortable. Satish After doing a small survey locally (knocking on shop owners doors actually) I came to the conclusion that 99 out of 100 www users dont even know the SSL symbol exists. Personally as a web user I'm more annoyed at having to "register" "log on" "remember your password" and all the other junk thats suddenly appeared on the web than I am by any non SSL site. Im sick to death of registering with all these places that only have passing interest at best anyway. So I dont anymore. This is the only site anywhere on the web I'm "registered" on. Other e-commerce people might want to at least consider that. And as a vendor I have zero interest in collecting names and addresses. The information so gathered has no more value than an electoral list IMHO despite what the marketing people say. I view it much the same as I would view being told to "go to the reception desk and fill in a form of personal details" every time I went into a department store. I certainly wouldn't be going back there. I will be collecting email addresses of purchasers and table-linking them to actual product purchased for guarantee/updates validation and thats it. And email addresses are never secure they're public anyway. I consider a non-SSL non-register site far superior to any SSL enabled registration requiring site. But of course that only applies if the transaction processing section of the site IS secure. With payPal it is thats why I chose it. But then my views tend to be controversial at the best of times.... ;-) (p.s. I also like my BBS's and emails to be graphics free) john
