Building a music site with osCommerce

Hi all,

 

I am a newbie to osCommerce and have just spend some time checking out some live music store and reading up on some docs. I am very impress how flexible osC is for many different types of online stores.

 

I will be starting a site for Oxfam music shop to sell vinyl to raise money for chartity (obviously) and have decided to use this system as it seems very robust and all the ecommerce features are there already. But i have some questions to ask, so i hope some of you can take the time to answer them, thank you.

 

What i would like to know is:

 

- I've notice, it's not possible to add extra pages from within osC but i've seen site running on osC with additional pages (ie, contact page, about us page). How is this added in are these just static pages linked in? as we need some extra pages to let your customers know where the money form the sell will go and any fund raising events happening locally.

 

- I check all over this site (maybe haven't dig deep enough) but i can't seem to find a page with 3rd party modules or templates, i believe there is a site for this since most big open source project of this nature would have many alternatives to further extend the capaibliities, but where are they located?

 

- We would also want to offer sample of mp3s for customers to listen to before they buy how would this be added to a product?

 

- Is is possible to categorise products by artist, label, albums and tracks and cross reference them. Also, is multiple sub categories available in osC?

 

- Is there anyone experience in using Joomla CMS (www.joomla.org) as i was thinking of integrating osC to use with it since there is a bridge component but how well does it work together?

 

Thank you, i hope someone with experinence in osC cankindly advise me on some of my questions. However, i'm going to test drive it tomorrow.

Oh no! someone has actually answered my post on the other same post i asked to be deleted and the user has given me some real sound adivce. Would it be possible to retrieve that same post that i had asked to be deleted?
