Avoiding Email Attacks - Adding Referrer Filtering to the Contact Us form

Hi Folks,

 

Yesterday my store was subject to an email attack, I received over 800 returned and undeliverable email messages which had originally come from the "Contact Us" form. I have been able to combat this on some of my websites by using Referrer Filtering in the PHP script which handles the submitted form.

 

Is anybody else experiencing these email attacks and what can be done to stop them, also if anyone can give me some advice on how to incorporate referrer filtering to the PHP script which handles the Contact Us form it would be gratefully appreciated.

You need to apply the bug patches and security fixes available in the updated version of osCommerce MS2 - which has been available to everyone since last November and reported widely on these forums.
