Hello,

I am having a problem with Google indexing my site. I have been live since Feburary 1st and Google just has by index page ? nothing else.

I am using MS2 with the Use Search Engine Safe URL set to true. I also have the Meta tags contribution installed. Last night I just used the XML sitemap and the allproducts contributions.

I don?t think I am being indexed by MSN either.

My url is www.totallynecessary.com

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

-Mari

I got this from your source:

<title>Platform shoes, platform boots and high heels - Platform shoes, platform boots and high heels</title>

Looks like keyword stuffing to me. You use "platform" too much.

<META NAME="Description" Content="Sexy high heels, platform shoes and platform boots Sexy high heels, platform shoes and platform boots">

Once again, try to use more words that pertain to platform shoes and boot and high heels. Maybe "evening", "classy", "footwear", etc. You're using the same words too many times.

Also, install get a fresh copy of spiders.txt (from the contributions) and put it into /includes/.

Your keywords tag is also stuffed:

<META NAME="Keywords" CONTENT="platform shoes, high heels, platform boots platform shoes, high heels, platform boots">

You used "platform" too many times.

Google isn't dumb. It'll definitely pick up on this. The funny thing is, Google barely even considers the Meta tags when it considers a site's importance -- they just help.

Try to get inbound links from related websites.

The site is very visually beautiful, but Google doesn't care about pretty. Google loves text and you don't have much of it.

Also, consider adding ALT tags to your images (but don't stuff them).

There's just a million things you can do...

Go to www.google.com and seach for "SEO" or "Search Engine Optimization". Getting ranked on Google is a science often even more time-consuming than actually creating the site itself!

When that's all said and done, remember that it can take atleast a month for your site to be included in the google index and three months before it is ranked by google's idea of "relevance".

Hope that helps.

OH, thanks. That helps quite a bit. I was just trying to hit all the variations people may use when they search for platforms and didnt even realize that is was stuffing. I have so much to learn!

The hardest part about making a site nowadays is actually getting people to come to it. Just remember, 97% of the knowledge u need to make a successful site is in this forum.

Always search before you ask, because the odds are that one or 10 people out of the thousands who use osC have already asked it. Read read read... even if it may not have to do with your particular problem, you're still learning!

good luck!

I have to agree with this. I check out the forum almost daily. My imagination and creativity brain cells are quite small, so I come here for ideas. Many of my site changes and mods are from others asking or showing ideas. I read about other site problems, then if I run into that later, I may not remember the solution, but I usually recall having read something about it. Then I know where to go to find it again.
