Not receiving e-mails with orders!

I am almost ready to go live with my store, and I have been checking everything to make sure it works fine. So I have made a few fake orders, since I haven't connected the gateway and merchant account yet. Everything seems fine, I go through the checkout process without any problems, but I am not getting any email about my "orders," neither as a customer nor as a store owner. I received one email as a customer (with the first order), but I placed 2 or 3 orders more and didn't get any information about those.

In the configuration panel I have [email protected] as the main email address, and also a [email protected] email address to receive a copy of each order. I am not getting anything at either address.

What am I missing? Please help! I want ot go live very soon.

Three common problems which can affect this:

1. Having the incorrect http_cookie_domain in your includes/configure.php file. It should be either www.yourdomain.com or just yourdomain.com - either way there's no http:// in front.

2. Trying to use as your e-mail address an e-mail address which is not based on the domain you're running the website on e.g.

[email protected] = okay

[email protected] = not okay

3. Entering your e-mail addresses in this format on some servers e.g.

Sales<[email protected]> = not okay (despite what the admin control panel says), just use [email protected]

Unfortunately, it didn't help me. I have similar symptoms, but apparently a different cause. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Jim, another point:

4. Is Sendmail installed on your server?

I also have the same problem. Customers don't get order confirmation emails. I have checked the 3 things listed above and they all check out. I assume that Sendmail is installed as the email address specified in "Send Extra Order Emails To" works fine - i get the emails no problems.
