Guest
Hello All! :) I am setting up an osCommece site and would like to have several categories of products. For this example i will use only 3, namely 1) Clothing 2) Sleepwear 3) Beauty not necessarily in that order. Under clothing i would like to have the following: -Features -New spring arrivals -Sale -Designer collections -Tops -Pants -Jeans -Sweaters -Cardigans -Turtlenecks ETC... and then under sleepwear, something similar, yet it will need to be different due the the fact that i have no sweaters that are sleepwear... hopefully you get the idea! I can create all of these as subcategories and then put product under those levels (so far 3 levels deep - Clothing, Designer collections, Tops) and then product. The problem is that in my situation, I would eventually have hundreds of products that would be in multiple categories - for example, in "new spring arrivals" and "Tops" and in "Sales". Oscommerce allows you to copy the product to other categories, but that will eventually be immensly tedious as you will have several categories with the same exact same product and will have to update each individually if you want to make a change. Is there a way to link per se to other categories? Is there a contribution that ive missed that will allow me to do this? It would be difficult since it would require modifying the base code. Im trying to find a good way to do this before i dive in and regret it later - trying to plan on the front side for a change!!! Either way i thought its worth the shot to ask! Thanks for the help! -Nate
Guest
there are contributions to setup featured items which you could display in the main pages of your site. http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2283 also osc has a link option for products instead of duplicating the product.
