HI I installed os commerce fine through cpanel and when I went into the admin page and login page I got this error:

Server Requirement Error: register_globals is disabled in your PHP configuration. This can be enabled in your php.ini configuration file or in the .htaccess file in your catalog directory.

Help how do I fix this, I can not find it or how to solve this problem. What is the most easy way to do it, thanks Brian

Hi.

If you are running PHP in Windows, yoju will find your php.ini file in c:\windows.

Open the file in notepad or your text editor and about 1/3 of the way down you will find register_globals.

Hope this helps.

HI Mark,

I use windows but I can not find the php.ini file, I use the cpanel for my web site. Do I have to do anything on there too or just in my computer?? where in windows do I look for that file??, Thanks Brian

Hi Brian.

To find the php.ini file.

On your desktop, open my computer, then open the drive that has your windows files in (it is usually c:).

In drive c, you will see a folder called windows. Open that folder and keep scrolling past the other folders in there until you get to individual files. They should be sorted alphabetically. You should find php.ini in there.

If you have phpmyadmin installed, you can check the various parameters by opening it in your browser.

Let us know how you go.

HI Mark,

No I don't have a PHP.ini file in the windows folder, I even did a search with the computer to make sure.

I used cpanel X to control all my web sites things. Which had fantastico, which is where I installed the os commerce cart. So I am not sure where I will need to go and file that file. I tried to find it in my file manger in cpanel but could not find what I needed to find there either. not sure where to look now?? any ideas??

Don't know where they have put it then.

I have noticed that cpanel has a forum at http://forums.cpanel.net/

Maybe they can help, or there may be someone else who uses it (looks interesting).

Sorry about that.

If Brian is getting that error message in an online install (which it is) then he has to look for a local copy of php.ini in his domain folders, via FTP or his web hosting control panel File Manager.

If he doesn't have access to a local copy of php.ini then he either has to use the Register Globals Patch Files or the .htaccess fix (this last is only available on Apache servers).

Hello. I am also having this same problem. I have install OSC through Fantastico from my host. When I try to login to my admin I get the same error

Server Requirement Error: register_globals is disabled in your PHP configuration. This can be enabled in your php.ini configuration file or in the .htaccess file in your catalog directory.

I have gone into my php.ini file and the register_globals show to be on so I am all out of ideas. Can anyone please help?

-Thanks

This seems to be a very common problem and I see and a lot of people are having it. I have tired everything that I have read in other numerous posts and nothing has worked. Is this something my host will have to resolve or is this something I can fix. I would imagine that if this is a software bug that their would be some kind of support or fix for this seeing it is such a widespread issue. So can anyone offer me any help please?

-Thanks
