Different Image sizes

Hi all.

I was wondering if someone could help me.

I am trying to set up a site retailing and wholesaling photographic images.

I actually have 2 problems.

Firstly, how can I easily add both portrait and landscape images, and have them come out correctly.

I have tried 1 way that did not work. Say the thumbs for the l/scape is 125x93 and the ports are 93x125.

I set the size to 125x125 but the images were rather disappointing to say the least.

How can I ensure that the aspect ratio of the image remains the same.

Secondly, I intend to sell these images to retail customers as well as to merchandisers.

Whilst I will need the merchandisers to log into their account, I don't wish the retail customers to have to do so.

Is there a way of splitting the log-in on the site, or will I have to have one of the groups linked to a separate sita.

Thanks all.

I have not looked into the contributions that might solve this problem, but if you set your image widths to eg 125px and the height is left blank, all of your thumbnails will render properly, although both landscape and portrait will be the same width.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply thoroughweb.

I had thought of that as well, but it was giving a big thumbnail for the portrait shots.

Just went through the contribs again and found a file called Image stretch fix.

Am going to try that.

Thanks again.
