Problems working with ocs at work - then home

Hi all,

As a complete nOOb, i've been working on ocs for the last couple of days at work developing our e-commerce site.

I wanted to continue working on the site at home over the weekend, and transferred all (so i thought) the files on my works pc to a USB pen drive so i could work at home .

However, when i go to log in, i get the new installation screen asking me to install a new shop - well i've already done that at work.

Can anybody point me in the right direction on this? - i use Dreamweaver 8 both at work and home, and i thought this might be fairly easy, but obviousl not LOL!

Thanks folks :)

Have you got a web server installed on your computer at home?

Did you take a backup of the database so that you can set up a blank database on your local web server and then import the contents of the backup into it?

Hi Vger,

I'm using wamp5 on both works and home pc's, so i thought that if i transferred what i'd got on the pc at work to a pen drive, i could log in using my username and password on my home pc, and continue working on it.

When you say a backup of the database, where/what should i be backing up to the pen drive?

I copied the whole wamp folder at work (which i thought had all the php and config files) - am i mistaken?

Thanks for the quick reply by the way! :)

Go to the osCommerce admin panel on your install at work, then go to Tools --> Backup, and download a backup to your pen drive (no compression). Then, at home, set up a blank database using phpMyAdmin, and then import the contents of the backup into it.

Install your files, and then edit both configure.php files so that the DIR_FS pathways match your install at home, and also the DB Name, User Name and Password.
