Help with credit card processor

Hey, I have a few concerns/aspects which will decide which credit card processor I chosoe to go with.

 

I'd appreciate if you all answered in the numbered order

 

1. In the admin section, for payment modules, and there is one that just plain says, credit card and asks for my email. Is this a way to accept credit cards? How would it work? Seems to easy, I thought you had to get a payment processor....

 

2. What payment processor have you had the best experience with?

 

3. What are the rates of the processor you use (and what is it, plz post a link)

 

4. What are the ways you can accept the payment to yourself? (where does it transfer to) I dont know much about this, I have only dealt with paypal.

 

5. Will my customers have to signup for anything?, like, do they have to go through anything other than my store, like another website after they complete my checkout?

 

6. If so, how logn does it take for them to signup and pay on average? (assuming you have gone through your own system to check it out)

The credit card module in admin requires you to have access to a credit card terminal. The other modules all use a gateway like Paypal or Authorize.net. They all cost different amounts. You will need to do your homework as to the acutal costs of each. There is much information on the forums about the various modules. In general, Paypal is the least expensive for low volume sites. As the number of sales increases, it tends to cost more than others like Authorize.net. To see how long and order takes, just sign up for a paypal account, it's free, and place an order. That would be the longest it would take for any method.
