Additional Custom Info Boxes

Is there a solution/contribution that will allow me to add unlimited info boxes with whatever content I want? I would like the ability to add the infoboxes via the admin, and would like to control the content via HTML. Also, I would want the ability to control which category pages the infoboxes are displayed on, as well as which column to display the box. Can anyone point out an existing contribution, or suggest the best way to accomplish this?
