Timing out error - Where is the problem and How do i address?

when i try to query anything from database on oscommerce catalog site it gives this error

 

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\htdocs\catalog\includes\functions\database.php on line 44

 

this doesnt happen when i query a catagory but when i query from manufacturers dropdown it always errors

 

i tried running the same querys on the database in access and it takes about 13 secs for results so i think the database is ok (slow but ok)

13 secs is not slow but ok, that is way to long. You may want to install the contribution found HERE to help you find out where your problem is.

 

There is also a contribution to slim down the excess queries and speed up the process that you may want to try.
