Does anyone have any idea or ETA as to when the new version is being released? I don't want to build the site on old version knowing new version is just around the corner. Any help would be much appreciated.

Any help would be much appreciated. Do not wait as nobody knows how long it will be. If you want to open up a store go with what is available as it could easily be awhile. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
