t0ddie Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 i have a SERIOUS issue with oscommerse. i have spent weeks of data entry entering products into one of sixteen categories. i need to COPY all products from that one category into the other 15 categories. the reason i cant link them is because EACH CATEGORY has DIFFERENT PRICES for EACH ITEM (the same item in different categories will be priced differently) Please tell me that there is a way to COPY (not link) multiple products, or an entire category. if not i have just wasted WEEKS of work and i will have to start completely over with ANOTHER e-commerse software. so far i have been directed to 2 seperate modifications that only link products. please answer ASAP im very frustrated and i have a deadline! p.s. i cant believe this is not included standard! im very dissappointed.
kgt Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 You can copy individual products. Contributions Discount Coupon Codes Donations
mark27uk3 Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 You could also install this contrib Mass Move/Copy I never never used it so this is not a recommendation. Mark Lifes a bitch, then you marry one, then you die!
t0ddie Posted February 22, 2006 Author Posted February 22, 2006 You can copy individual products. so your saying copy 5000 individual products 15 times? thats 75,000 products... requiring about 10 steps each. you busy this year?
t0ddie Posted February 22, 2006 Author Posted February 22, 2006 You could also install this contrib Mass Move/Copy I never never used it so this is not a recommendation. Mark what would you reccommend? this seems like the only alternative besides junking all my work and using other software. ill give it a shot
kgt Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 so your saying copy 5000 individual products 15 times?thats 75,000 products... requiring about 10 steps each. you busy this year? Your question was whether multiple products could be copied. I told you that individual products can be copied as an affirmation. I don't recall telling you to copy 5000 products, nor would I since I would have no way of knowing how many products you have... It is not much of a stretch to write a script to do this. If you have programming knowledge I can give you some hints on how to do this. If truly none of the contributions will work. First I'd suggest checking with the contributor of each to make sure you're not missing something. Or perhaps they will be willing to do it for you. Contributions Discount Coupon Codes Donations
t0ddie Posted February 22, 2006 Author Posted February 22, 2006 Your question was whether multiple products could be copied. I told you that individual products can be copied as an affirmation. that wasnt the issue, i was aware of being able to copy individual products. I don't recall telling you to copy 5000 products, nor would I since I would have no way of knowing how many products you have.... uhm, your correct. i did not mention amount of products.. but i did mention how many categories i needed to copy to. even moving ONE product 15 times is too much. but if you will notice "products" is plural (more than one) i have spent weeks of data entry entering products into one of sixteen categories.i need to COPY all products from that one category into the other 15 categories. if i have spend weeks on this.. you can use a little assumption. i may not have said "5000" but anyone who read what i posted can determine that its "alot" of products. a little reading goes a long way! You could also install this contrib Mass Move/Copy I never never used it so this is not a recommendation. Mark man, i followed the directions and guess what i will do the reccommending for you. this mod works flawlessly and is FINALLY exactly what i was looking for! i was about to throw all my work away, get other software and swear alot. now i will be reccommending this great free software to my friends! I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT THIS MOD IS INCLUDED ON NEXT STABLE RELEASE OF OSCOMMERSE! or a slight variation of it... as long as the functionality remains. thanks for all your help guys! -Todd
