Missing UPS shipping mod

I've installed the stock OSC and done most of the configuration and tweaking of the site, and now I'm trying to set up my UPS shipping module. The trouble is that I can't seem to locate it inside the distribution or where it was installed on my server.

Am I missing something obvious?

Also, I have a UPS XML key. Can someone tell me how much trouble I'm likely to encounter (as a newbie PHP tinkerer) trying to install the contribution from Torin Walker (http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1323)?

I seriously do not want to break my store after taking so much time getting it live.

The UPS module is part of the default osCommerce install, so should be there.

If not you can always download osCommerce MS2 from the downloads section at www.oscommerce.com, unzip it, and upload any missing modules.

I just downloaded the distribution and in /catalog/includes/modules/shipping all I find is flat.php, item.php, table.php, usps.php and zones.php. No UPS module to be found.

There are two modules to look out for, one is ups and the other is usps.

Look again, because it is there - provided you downloaded MS2 from the downloads section at www.oscommerce.com.

Wait!! I found it. But it's in catalog/includes/languages/english/modules/shipping

However, it's not showing up in my admin interface. Do I need to move it to /catalog/includes/modules/shipping?

No, you need to find the other file in catalog/includes/modules/shipping/

Ok, I located the file. It's there. But it's still not showing up in my admin module. OOFDA <a href="java script:emoticon(":'("," smid_3="" )="">

Ok, just so I don't appear to be a serious bonehead....I'm looking at the distribution that I downloaded from osCommerce site (twice). A search of all the directories yields the following (both times):

shipping_ups.gif in oscommerce-2.2ms2-051113\catalog\images\icons

ups.php in oscommerce-2.2ms2-051113\catalog\includes\languages\english\modules\shipping

ups.php in oscommerce-2.2ms2-051113\catalog\includes\languages\espanol\modules\shipping

ups.php in oscommerce-2.2ms2-051113\catalog\includes\languages\german\modules\shipping

I can locate it nowhere else in the directories where I've unzipped the files. There is no ups.php file in the directory /catalog/includes/modules/shipping/

ARGH!

UPS was removed from the distribution at the request of UPS and how they license the use of UPS

OK, so please save me from reading 50 pages of threads. How do we set up a UPS shipping capability then? Or do we?

rmeilech got an answer in a thread that he started and that pointed him to this thread for the reason why UPS was not in the latest download. But if you are like him and can't be bothered to do a tiny bit of searching, setting up an osC store will be a painful experience.... for you and the other forum members.

Ah, sorry I inadvertantly pushed one of your buttons. I did follow the thread, saw your response. But in doing more than a tiny bit of searching, got very confused. Getting old, brain cells don't track so well. In any case, still somewhat confused about setting up UPS. So...if I can beg your forgiveness and ask for a few more pointers...where do I start in setting up UPS.

You got two choices (from the contribution section): UPS XML and UPS Choice. The UPS Choice is closest to the UPS module that used to be included in the download. I have seen plenty of complaints that the rates are not close enough to the real shipping costs. Don't know about that, but they are different from what the UPS XML module gives (don't ask me why). However, UPS XML takes more effort to install. You can even install them both and see how the rates compare. Not advised on a life shop of course :)

Thank you. Again, I appreciate your patience in going over this with me again. I think I can now follow the threads on the two options.
