Ian Lawther Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 I am very new to this stuff......I only discovered osCommerce today while doing research for an online business which I was planning to run in a very low tech way until I came across this site. After downloading the documentation I found myself wondering what sorts of databases can be used to run with this system. Is something like MS Access a possibility for those of us with fewer technical/programming skills? Thanks, Ian
Guest Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Hi Ian, This whole setup is very easy to get. Just read and follow the directions and if you have problems just ask here. MySQL is not difficult at all once you get phpMyAdmin installed and with the standard osCommerce install you do not need to do anything in the database. All products and catagories are added through the admin area. From what i have learned MS access is very slow and has limits as to the number of people who can simultaniously connect. Good Luck!
♥Vger Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 osCommerce cannot be run on a MS SQL database - just to be clear. Vger
