zalik22 Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Hi, My site (http://www.bigtimepurchase.com) is up and I was wondering what you guys thought. Please respond with positive and/or negative feedback. I have already made quite a few sales, but I was wondering if anybody had any tips on increasing traffic flow. Thanks for looking!
Guest Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Hi there. Kind of a plain looking site overall. Your banner logo is fuzzy. I clicked on Celtic Cross of Cupplin and why is your shipping and such policies listed under the product's description? That kind of info belongs in the Shipping, Policies, etc sections. Sub-categories under Artwork - you have Candle Holde and Candle Holder - two categories??? Have you done the Header Tag contribution so each category, sub=category, and product page gets meta tags, keywords etc .
Coastie Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 ok, if your happy with it. but i would reccomend getting rid of this. index.php?cPath=72&osCsid=64a067b0380060c2d24da6377b067117 maybe you should look at getting pics for you cats. maybe also, when you look at products there is no login box displayed "anywhere" so if i wanted to join, where do i sign in or create an account????? I am thinking of purchasing from your site. so i would think the following snipit is correct???? "Shipping Costs" "Shipping for any item on BigTimePurchase is only $6.50! Add $1 for each additional item. It is that simple." You may also want to add a postal address or business number so that people can see that you are a registered business not a scam. (just a thought) what is "MSRP" Pricing ??? dude, i know how people can be on this site. i put mine up once.http://www.coastalcomputerservices.com.au and man did i get trashed. so i say if your happy with it, go with it.
zalik22 Posted February 22, 2006 Author Posted February 22, 2006 Thanks for all of your comments, and yours too, Moonlight. I will look into the Header Tag Contribution. Coastie, 2 questions for you: what is "MSRP" Pricing ??? dude, i know how people can be on this site. i put mine up once.http://www.coastalcomputerservices.com.au and man did i get trashed. What does that mean exactly? What is your suggestion? but i would reccomend getting rid of this. index.php?cPath=72&osCsid=64a067b0380060c2d24da6377b067117 Where do you see this and if it's easy, how would I get rid of it? I am pretty clueless to what this is. Thanks for your comments! I appreciate the feedback, even if some of it is negative. I'll make the changes hopefully this week (including logo change) and get back to you guys. Thanks again!
zalik22 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Posted April 16, 2006 Hi, Anybody want to give me any additional feedback? I have made quite a few changes from my first post. I appreciate your feedback (whether it's positive or negative)! Thanks (link is in my profile or on the first post)!

What do you mean by pictures? You think I should add more pictures like "create an account" and have a picture next to it? Or are you referring to the product pictures? Thanks!

Usually, you can tell what a store offers just by the design itself. Not always easy to do. in your case, because you sell a range of products, it is probably more difficult to do. --Peterl CE PHOENIX SUPPORTER Support the Project, go PRO and get access to certified add ons Full-time I am a C-suite executive of a large retail company in Australia. insyspider Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I get secure/nonsecure warning upon checkout. Customers don't like to see this. Since you have SSL, you need to fix this. I think your low, flat rate shipping cost is a strong selling point and should be stated in plain view on your homepage; right now it can only be seen by clicking on shipping/returns link. In addition, since the customer can't determine shipping cost without creating an account (this can be a turn off), they would know the shipping cost upfront. Best of luck to you. :D

I tested it many times and never had a problem. If it exists, I need to fix it. Thanks!!

zalik22 Posted April 22, 2006 Author Posted April 22, 2006 I just tried IE again and am still getting the security message. It is the yahoo IM logo...I can't seem to fix it. Anybody have any ideas? Here is the line of code: <a href="ymsgr:sendIM?' . ENTRY_YAHOO_ID . '"><img border=0 src="http://opi.yahoo.com/online?u=' . ENTRY_YAHOO_ID . '&m=g&t=2" border="0" alt="Yahoo! Hi, I placed an "if" statement, so once you enter a secure status, (login, etc.) the messenger box disappears. This is the best thing I could think of. It seems to work now. Thanks a lot for finding that, I noticed a lot of customers adding things to their shopping cart, but not checking out. I also added the shipping info in the header.
zalik22 Posted May 7, 2006 Author Posted May 7, 2006 I fixed the shipping header. Anybody have any more feedback? Thanks!
chooch Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 why have your product info pages got 'click to enlarge' and then'add to cart' underneath it... only to have 'add to cart' button again at the bottom of the description? and your product listing page would be better if you actually kept all of the images the same to keep it all level as anything looks really out of place Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back! Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you? There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere. CHOOCH
