UPS XML - Limiting ground shipping availability depending on delivery date

I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me with some code for upsxml.php (I'm using v. 1.2.3) to remove the UPS Ground shipping option if the EDD returned on it is greater than the EDD on 2nd Day Air. (This is because the product is perishable and can only be in transit for 48 hours or less.)

 

What would really be helpful would be if someone could guide me to the right place in upsxml.php to start writing this in. I'm not terribly familiar with the order in which it processes things, so I'm not sure where to dive in to start toying with this. Any suggestions would be really appreciated!
