Guest Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Ok, I have several suppliers that all drop ship. Some use the US Postal Service, some use UPS, some use FedEx, or any combination of those. For those that have their inventory drop shipped to their customers, how did you deal with shipping? If you have all the modules/contributions set up for any of those companies, how do you associate one product to one shipping method and another to another. Let's say your customer buy a t-shirt, a chair, a ball, and a table. The supplier for the t-shirt only ships via USPS. The supplier for the chair only ships via FedEx. The suppliers for the ball and the table ships via USPS, UPS, and FedEx. How would I set up my shipping so that when this customer checks out, her t-shirt will get charge for USPS rates, her chair will get charged FedEx rates, and her other items ... whatever company. ARGH! This is very confusing when you have so many suppliers that are drop ship. Can someone "sit down" with me and help me figure out the best way to set this up so all my bases are covered... I'm even having trouble getting my shipping matrix set up ... I guess I'll be going by weight as opposed to by price total. ANY help would be most appreciated! Just adding shipping, my SSL, and my terms/conditions/faq is all I really have left to be able to open the store. EDIT: if I install the USPS module, it says I need to open an account at their website. But what if my inventory is drop shipped and I'm not actually shipping anything myself - do I still need to set up the account?

Do I need to contact the author to get the release code? I've only done the Meta Tag/Header Contribution, so I am not very contribution savvy.

I'm not new to OsCOmmerce but it's such a mess to weed through this. I wish everyone would just post FULL PACKAGES and it would make life alot easier. Okay I'm done venting. The latest roll-up... uploaded 20th February... is the one you need. Do I need to contact the author to get the release code? Nope... :D I've only done the Meta Tag/Header Contribution, so I am not very contribution savvy. Get a copy of Winmerge if you don't have it already... take your time, read the instructions carefully and you can't go far wrong... :thumbsup:
