Adding an item in the admin panel

I have a osCommerce shop configuration setup which has been heavily customized to include the WYSIWYG editor 1.7.

 

I am attempting to add a link to a page on the admin left column called "Define Links" however when I try to add it, it wont' display in the left hand column, and if I try to edit the page manually, it says "No right permission access"

 

Did I miss a file or did I miss a variable somewhere?

OK - I figured it out and I've added it, however the file is not writable now.
