a really basic question about installation

Please do excuse my obviously ignorance. But I've recently set up OS Commerce on my server and am more

than lost. Here is my situation and please do excuse me if this (and it most likely has) been covered over and over in these forums:

 

I used the automatic install for OS Commerce on my server provider. The website comes up and seems to work. I didnt alter it after that. I have a database of around 30,000 parts in MS Excell that I have tried to import into OS commerce using easypopulate. I did some research, formatted the document with the category names in the first column and the EOREOR at the end of each line and know to chop it up into parcels of around 300 a at time. But it doesnt seem to work.

 

So my question is.......perhaps I missed some steps. Can anyone point me to some resources or links that might take me step by step to configure either OS commerce or easypopulate (or both) to work with the excell list. I know this is really basic and vague, but would really appreciate some direction.

I think the Excel is to be CSV file.
