Guest Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Hi, I have installed the catalog as per instruction and I have two problems. 1) All the icons that control the cart i.e. Checkout, Continue Shopping, Update Cart, Quick Find, the three language flags, Sign In, Continue, Add to Cart and Reviews are not loading. I have gone through every directory in the catalog domain and chmod them 777. I even chmod every img or icon to 666 and still these icons wont load. All other images load fine and in the Admin area all are working okay. Can anyone help me? 2) I notice that there is no login funtion to access the Admin page which makes it very vunerable. I see that most responses to this issue are 'go to the contol panel of your host and make the directory secure' What if I dont have that feature on my control panel? Can anyone suggest an easy way to install a secure login before allowing Admin to run. I would have thought it would be built into the shopping cart PHP programming? After all it is the most sensitive area and its not protected by admin password? I would appreciate any help. Thanks
♥Vger Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Often images don't load because people use rubbish free ftp programmes to upload the images and the files get corrupted - or don't get uploaded at all. If you are using something like Cute FTP then try something else like FileZilla (free) or WS FTP Home (free 30 day trial). Also make sure that your FTP programme uploads images in Binary format, and pages uploaded in ASCII format. On the password protection point. If you don't have access to a Password Protect or Directory Protection feature in your web hosting control panel then you may want to rethink your hosting. But if you're stuck with what you've got then Google for "password protecting using .htaccess" and you'll get lots of hits. Finally, before you password protect the admin folder, FTP to your website and rename it to something unique. If hackers can't find it they can't hack it! Then, in admin/includes/configure.php change the two references to /admin/ to /newname/ Vger
Guest Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Thanks. I have sorted the ADMIN security thing and now I am happy with that. I am using Core FTP Lite to chmod and upload which hasnt given me a problem in the past. I reloaded ALL the images in the cart making sure I had BINARY mode set and I watched them upload sucessfully. They still dont load. I notice that they are mainly located in the folder: http://www.sat.netcc.co.uk/catalog/include...images/buttons/ I see another person above my post is also having a problem with the same thing. The only other thing I can think of is exceeding the 'maximum allocated number of characters allowed in sub directories' ?? or what about the fact that I am using a SUB domain. Can you have a look and see what I mean. http://www.sat.netcc.co.uk/catalog Thanks.
