jrennard Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Hello! I'm setting up OSCommerce on our local church website. We are going to be making audio, video, and other text type documents available for sale/download. We have an audio/video ministry that sells our services, preaching, teaching, seminars, music, etc. on CD and DVD, however many people ask us to convert these to files that they can download, so we end up doing the work anyways! So, we are trying to get this setup on our site, but are not sure the best way to go about receiving payment. We are not quite sure how many processings we'll have each day/week, so we do not want to sign up for a service that requires high cost per transaction or monthly cost. I realize that PayPal somewhat integrates, but I would prefer that the user never leave our site for anything as well as be able to pay via credit card without having to sign up for anything other than our shop. I would appreciate any feedback, opinions, etc, on what you may do in this situation. If there is a fully integrated option that will allow us to accept credit on our site for a small fee, we would be okay with that. If the PayPal integration is seamless or is integrated completly and will allow us credit cards, that would be fine too. I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks! Quote
dynamoeffects Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 If you don't want to pay a monthly fee, you're pretty much stuck with PayPal IPN which sends the customer to paypal for payment. They aren't required to have a PayPal account to checkout. The next step up is PayPal Pro which is $20 (or $25?) a month plus a transaction fee. After that, you get into real merchant accounts and gateways that will run about $45/month just to have them + transaction fees. Quote Please use the forums for support! I am happy to help you here, but I am unable to offer free technical support over instant messenger or e-mail.
jrennard Posted February 18, 2006 Author Posted February 18, 2006 Yeah, that is what I was looking at. Are you able to customize the interface when you visit PayPal to make payment? I guess it'll be worth it just to check out the PayPal IPN and then if we end up making enough money off the shop to afford a better option, we can move to it. Any tips as I get ready to set this thing up? =) Thanks again! Quote
thegateways Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I have heard chronopay accept major credit card as they have good banking relationships throughout Europe, it might be a good solution if you are located anywhere within the European Union. Quote
