Can't send customers an email

Pardon the newbie questions -- I'm just checking out osCommerce to see if I can get it to do some basic credit card processing for my son's football association.

 

If I try to send a customer an email through administration panel I get the following error message.

 

Is there somewhere I can set the smtp server that is used.

 

Any help is certainly appreciated!

Have you tried changing to sendmail in the admin??
