Guest Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Feel free to shoot me for asking very dumb questions I have two: Firstly when the download this file link is lciked in my account it tries to download it as a htm file it's an mp3 why is this? Secondly how do stop people from downloading files simply by going to www.mysite.com/downloads/file.mp3 and by passing the payment system? Thanks a million guys
SuperSewist Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 somewhere in the osC site is the manual, look up at the top menu bar 'solutions' 'documentation'. There is a list of specific rules to follow for your download, it's all there, too long to list here when it's already been done. Read & learn & follow the steps just-so and it will solve both your problems. Guest Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Thanks Carol but I'm being incredibably dumb now but what I can find there doesn't help maybe I'm just blind.
Guest Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Ah the file extension was a problem with my browser it works in IE but not opera. Interesting. Still no luck on other issure though.
SuperSewist Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Up at the top of this browser screen, under 'oscommerce' there's the list of menu items, the blue one is 'solutions' and the documentation can be had there. For the other, the admin option "download by redirect" under configuration/download creates a file on the fly when a logged-in customer requests it. So your real file isn't accessible as it is protected by .htaccess. otherwise, you might check into the "downloads controller" MOD, lots of good stuff there. If you don't have an .htaccess in your folder "downloads" that may be the problem. --> www.mysite.com/downloads/file.mp3 hope that gets you more joy - - - Toward Continued Success - - > Carol Hawkey - - > KidsLearnToSew.com - - > Wyoming, USA Mods Installed - - > Authnet AIM2 - Bundled Products 1.4 - Fancier Invoice 6.1 - Email_HTML_Order_Link_Fixed - Header Tags Controller - Login aLa Amazon - JustOneAttribute - Article Manager - SPPC w/PB - spiders.txt - Dangling Carrot/Olive - Printable Catalog - CCGV(trad) Planned Mods - - > Purchase Without Account - USPS Label - Ultimate SEO
