Couple issues with CC/Authorizenet modules

Hi all,

I'm very very new to OSC and e-commerce in general, so please bear with me.

When a customer goes to the order page where they enter in their credit card info, there's actually two sets

of fields there - one for "Credit Card" and one for "Authorize.net". We only want transactions processed through Authorize.net. I found out by reading another thread that the CC module is mainly for capturing CC info and then you enter it in manually - but the company has Authorize.net (as we're switching from Miva), so we wish to use that - problem is, my boss put in a test order using the Authorize.net CC fields, but there was no activity on the Authorize.net site.

The module was installed by my boss as he's got the Authorize.net info, but why wouldn't it be working? I'm really confused, and don't really know where to start. That's how lost I am.

If you can offer any kind of help, please do so. Thanks!

hey kinsbane, welcome to the "club" such as it is :P

1. figure out which authorizenet MOD has been installed. Look through your osC directory for includes/modules/payment, and find a file that has authorizenet in the name. At the top of the file there should be the id tag showing which one it is.

2. read through the authorizenet MOD support forum for clues, from the date of your file to current. (no sense going all the way back to the beginning (yet))

3. double check your settings at your authnet provider (not in osC) there is probably a change to make for the return site url since you used to use MIVA it is probably set to return to the MIVA cart-url. or even better, delegate this task to the boss

Well that about empties my thimble full of knowledge on it, best of fun & games to you!

Hi SuperSewist, thanks for the reply and the help.

This is the line at the top of my authorizenet.php module file:

$Id: authorizenet.php,v 1.48 2003/04/10 21:42:30 project3000 Exp $

Do I have an out-of-date version?

Also, can I disable the CC module in the admin section for the shopping cart, leaving just the authorize.net module? And is there any way I can change the text on the payment page so it says, "Enter your credit card information" instead of "Authorize.net"? Customers have been confused about what "Authorize.net" is and aren't sure to order or not.

IMO, any MOD with a 2003 date *probably* has been updated, renovated, and/or painted :)

look at http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...ch,authorizenet

Consolidated 1.7b Bug rollup 2006FEB15 or it's precursor 2004DEC16. That's the one I started with, and then added the two fixes that are mentioned as being included in the 2006 rollup. stable. read the support forum.

although, again IMO, I would not implement the 'send card error to checkout screen' fix, you should just say 'there is an error' without saying what it is. this is according to cc processor advice.

I still have my stock cc 'active' it does not show on checkout screen as an option. Customers have two choices for me: credit card (authoriznet) or paypal. I think there may be a piece in there needed, haven't looked close enough to know.

You can change all the wordings in the associated language file. and the wording is different in your admin list than what show to the customer; even it is the same words they come from a different language-file DEFINE.
