Quantity not updating in shopping cart using UPDATE button

I'm running oscommerce 2.2 ms2-051113 and have added the individual shipping, option type feature and PayPal IPN mods. Everything seems to be working fine except when you try to change the quantity of an item in the shopping cart. If I change the quantity (larger or smaller) and click on the update button, it does not save the new quantity. The only way to add additional quatities is by adding the same item to the cart. I've replaced the /includes/classes/shopping_cart.php with the original (no mods) version and it still doesn't work. Now either there's a bug in there or I'm looking in the wrong place for the problem. Can anyone help?

In case anyone else is looking for the solution to this problem, I found that someone had already answered it. Option Type Feature of Product Attributes Contribution in conjuction with Paypal IPN related to the TEXT field showing as "TEXT" in the pre-order. Here is the link to the answer:
